One man is in critical condition after being hit by a bus on the North Side Friday night, according to the Port Authority of Allegheny County.

The Port Authority bus, which was not in service, struck the man who was walking on the ramp to Route 65 from Beaver Avenue around 7 p.m.

The pedestrian was taken by ambulance to Allegheny General Hospital with internal injuries, a compound fracture to his left arm and facial lacerations, according to the port authority.

Port Authority police are investigating. The man was crossing several lanes without using a crosswalk, the authority said.
