The two men facing murder charges in the 2018 shooting death of a Nigerian pizza delivery driver in Pittsburgh’s East Liberty neighborhood reached plea deals and were sentenced Wednesday.

D’Ambrosse Garland, 18, of Marshall-Shadeland and Timothy Walls, 17, of Terrace Village pleaded guilty to third-degree murder, robbery and conspiracy before Judge Alex Bicket, according to the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office. Garland also pleaded guilty to two firearms charges.

In exchange for the pleas, Bicket sentenced Garland to 20 to 40 years in prison, plus 10 years’ probation, and Walls to 9 to 19 years in prison.

The men were charged in the Oct. 13, 2018, shooting death of Abdulganiyu Sanusi, who went by Patrick Adesanya.

Adesanya, 56, was a pizza delivery driver who was shot twice and robbed in the middle of the day on North St. Clair Street. A Nigerian immigrant, he had been in the United States for about two years, working several jobs to support a wife and seven children still living in Nigeria.

Police interviewed 13 witnesses and used surveillance camera footage in the area to tie Garland and Walls to the killing.
