Pittsburgh-based contestant Lindsey Shultz hasn’t been knocked out of the showdown for this year’s “Jeopardy!” superstar yet.

Shultz, a Connellsville native who works as a physician and health care analyst, clinched second place in Wednesday night’s episode, which marked Day 3 of the popular game show’s “Tournament of Champions!”

She competed against Alan Dunn, a software development manager from Georgia, and record-setting contestant James Holzhauer, a professional sports gambler from Las Vegas.

Holzhauer has earned almost $2.5 million in his 33 appearances on the show, making him the third-highest winning “Jeopardy!” contestant.

Shultz is a four-time winner on the show, for a total earnings of $101,002, ranking her in the top 10 this year.

She attended Connellsville Area High School and Carnegie Mellon University before earning a medical degree from Cornell University and studying public health at Columbia University.

On Wednesday, Shultz finished the game show with $14,000 on her board, after 13 correct answers and no incorrect answers. Holzhauer, the day’s winner, logged $30,635, with 33 correct answers and 1 incorrect answer, The Jeopardy Fan blog reports.

Players do not keep the money accumulated in the tournament’s initial qualifying rounds.

If Shultz’s points outscore the other runner-ups, she could be eligible for a wild card spot in later rounds.

The 10-day tournament began airing Monday. The shows were pre-taped at the “Jeopardy!” studios in Culver City, Calif.

The tournament semifinals air next week, with the two-day finals scheduled for Nov. 14 and Nov. 15.

The winner will claim the $250,000 grand prize. The second-place finisher earns $100,000 and third place gets $50,000.
