Pittsburgh, McKees Rocks among municipalities to receive state transportation funding

The Commonwealth Financing Authority on Tuesdayapproved $54.7 million in state grant funding for 106 multimodal transportation projects in 40 counties, Gov. Tom Wolf’s office said.

Allegheny County will receive more than $6.8 million of the allocation, which will fund an array of projects ranging in scope from $390,000 for Verona’s First Street reconstruction project to $1.8 million for a West Station Square Drive streetscape project in Pittsburgh.

Other counties in the region that will receive funding include Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Cambria, Greene, Indiana, Mercer and Westmoreland.

The authority distributed the statewide grants through its Multimodal Transportation Fund, which is funded by gaming and tourism revenues. The authority, established in 2004, is an independent agency of the Department of Community and Economic Development.

“Infrastructure is one of the most crucial components of Pennsylvania’s economic well-being,” Wolf said in a news release. “We can’t have a robust economy without modern-day infrastructure. These projects will improve residents’ quality of life and boost Pennsylvania businesses and communities.”

Here is a list of all Allegheny County fund disbursements:

• $500,000 to the city of Pittsburgh for the Bigelow Boulevard Streetscape project.

• $327,950 to Pittsburgh Arena Real Estate Redevelopment LLC for a Lower Hill Development “Freedom Plaza/Pedestrian Walkway.”

• $275,000 to borough of McKees Rocks for its McKees Rocks Extension of Intermodal Way project.

• $500,000 to the city of Pittsburgh for the 21st Street project.

• $1.8 million to Forest City Station Square Associates LP for the West Station Square Drive Streetscape and Pedestrian Enhancement project.

• $95,578 to Pittsburgh Ballet Theater Inc. for its Denny Square and Liberty Avenue Rehabilitation project.

• $500,000 to R&Z Harrison Properties LP for its Pleasant Avenue Relocation project.

• $350,000 to Sports and Exhibition Authority of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County for its I-579 “Cap” Urban Connector project.

• $525,000 to Pitcairn for its Center Avenue – Road Slide Remediation project.

• $400,000 to Mero South Park Ventures LLC for its South Park R&D Site Phase II project.

• $750,000 to Mt. Lebanon for its Uptown Public Space Improvement project.

• $390,000 to Verona for its First Street Reconstruction project.

• $200,000 to White Oak for its Streetscape project.

• $250,000 to Mt. Oliver for its Brownsville Road Streetscape Phase III.
