Pittsburgh police plan to move to 12-hour shifts beginning Saturday, a police spokesman said.
Closing arguments could begin Friday in the trial of former East Pittsburgh police Officer Michael Rosfeld, who is accused of shooting a fleeing Antwon Rose II on June 19.
The beefed-up security is being done to ensure that there are enough officers in Downtown Pittsburgh as well as in every zone across the city, to protect the public’s safety, officials said.
Grant Street, Fourth Avenue and other streets immediately surrounding the Allegheny County Courthouse remain closed while court is in session — a move also to ensure the public’s safety, officials said.
