A warehouse employee of Pittsburgh Public Schools tested positive for covid-19 on Sunday, prompting the district to keep its service center closed through Tuesday, officials said.

The district knows of another employee at Pittsburgh Fulton K-5 elementary school who may have been exposed to covid-19, spokeswoman Ebony Pugh said. The Fulton campus will be closed Monday and reopen Tuesday.

The district alerted staff about the situations at both facilities via its mass notification system.

Officials already had shut down the service center warehouse on Thursday, after learning that a family member of an employee there had the disease. That staff member last worked at the warehouse on June 26. The employee worked mostly at the service center, but also made brief visits to Crescent Early Childhood Center and Fulton, Oliver City-wide, Brashear, Pioneer and South Brook schools.

“The employee did follow required protocols, wore a mask and practiced social distancing when working at each location,” district officials said in a statement. “We will continue to keep staff updated when we are alerted to a potential exposure of covid-19.”
