Pittsburgh Zoo to reopen Friday with new guidelines
The Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium will open Friday with new guidelines in place because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Visitors can buy timed tickets online. For members of the zoo, there is no additional charge for the tickets. Non-member rates are $17.95 for adults, $16.95 for seniors and $15.95 for children. Previously purchased non-timed tickets won’t be accepted.
The playground will be closed, there will be no tram service and capacity will be limited, according to the zoo. The log ride and zip line will be closed.
There will also be social distancing markers throughout the park.
Sanitizer will be available, but patrons are also being asked to bring their own. Masks aren’t required but are encouraged. All zoo staffers will be wearing masks, the zoo said.
Hours after the zoo made the announcement Wednesday, traffic to its website was heavy and zoo officials apologized for any problems accessing the site.
Hi everyone! We apologize, we are getting an unprecedented amount of visitors to our website & ticket link at this time and it is causing some disruptions. We are working on it as quickly as we can to get it all back up and running smoothly. (1/2)
