DiAnoia’s Eatery in the Strip District is temporarily closed after an employee tested positive for covid-19.

“We feel that it’s our responsibility to you and our team, to temporarily close while we fully sanitize, deep clean, and have our entire staff tested,” the restaurant announced on its website and via Instagram.

“Our community is everything to us and we will continue to go to great lengths to keep everyone safe and healthy. Thank you for all of your love and support during this time. We are looking forward to having you all back and to feed you as soon as possible.”

DiAnoia’s representative Stefanie Ball said all employees will be tested. There is no specific reopening date. She said owners Dave and Aimee Anoia are not sure where the employee contacted the virus.

“Dave and Aimee care so much about their staff and their patrons that they decided to close and resanitize the entire restaurant,” Ball said. “They want everyone to feel safe. They did the responsible thing by closing the restaurant and are making sure every employee gets tested.”

The restaurant opened indoor dining two weeks after the county entered the green phase on June 5 but closed when the number of cases in Allegheny county began to jump. It debuted an additional outdoor dining space at the end of June, but then indoor and outdoor dining was closed following an order by Allegheny County.

DiAnoia’s had been serving take-out orders from its breakfast sandwiches, deli lunches and homemade pasta menu and to-go drinks.
