This is sweet news.

Klavon’s Ice Cream Parlor in the Strip District is reopening as soon as it’s allowed by the state as part of Allegheny County moving into the yellow phase of coronavirus control.

Customers can arrange an appointment online to get what the shop, which used to be a pharmacy, is calling “an ice cream prescription filled.”

Here is how it works:

• Diners launch the Yelp App on their phone or go to Yelp on the web.

• Search for Klavon’s, ice cream, or “Waitlist restaurants” in Pittsburgh.

• Click “Join the Waitlist” on the right side of the menu.

• The app will then tell them how long the time is until a table is ready.

• The app will notify them when it is their turn.

The company has tables set at least 6 feet apart and will keep track of customers to ensure social distancing.

“During this incredibly stressful time, we’re looking for anything we can do to help brighten people’s days,” Klavon’s said in a release. “Ice cream can be a great stress reliever.”

Klavon’s has been around since 1923 and the ice cream is made there.
