Members of a Homewood family are safe after Pittsburgh SWAT officers were able to negotiate with an armed man who barricaded himself inside his home with two small children, police said.

Officers from Zone 5 were called at 10:15 p.m. Wednesday to a home in the 7100 block of Everton Avenue.

A man was reportedly fighting with two women when he holed up inside with two of his children, one an infant and one a toddler. The women were not inside the home, police said.

Members of the tactical negotiations team talked with the man by phone and he surrendered peacefully after about an hour, Cara Cruz, public information officer, said.

No one was injured and the children were returned to their mother.

The man is not being charged at this time, Cruz said.

Police continue to investigate.
