Authorities from Nevada were in Allegheny County on Friday investigating the case of a Bethel Park woman who was found dead more than two months ago in the desert north of Las Vegas.

Bethel Park police Chief Tim O’Connor said his department was cooperating with the Nevada authorities but would not comment about their investigation.

John Matthew Chapman, 39, of Oakland, Md., is charged with kidnapping, criminal use of a phone and obstruction.

Chapman, an Oakmont native, is accused of taking Jaime Feden, 33, of Bethel Park, on a trip to Nevada in September.

Chapman told police he bound Feden to a signpost and taped her nose and mouth until she was unable to breathe after a bondage-themed photo shoot in the Nevada desert, according to a criminal complaint.

Remains that were identified as Feden’s were found in Lincoln County, Nev., about 170 miles north of Las Vegas.

Local authorities have said charges are expected to be filed in Nevada.

Chapman is being held without bail in Allegheny County Jail. He is represented by the Allegheny County Public Defender’s office, which doesn’t comment on pending cases.
