A homeless Pittsburgh man was charged with criminal homicide in connection with the death of a woman whose body was found early Thursday morning in Homewood.

City police said James Wilson, 34, was charged and taken to the Allegheny County Jail.

Public Safety spokesman Maurice Matthews said police found the woman at about 5:25 a.m. in a house in the 7000 block of Forest Way.

Officers were initially called for a welfare check and found a man, later identified as Wilson, who said he had taken drugs and was afraid. Police took him to the hospital, Matthews said.

Wilson called 911 asking police to return to the house. Police did and found the woman.
