Pittsburgh police report Melvin Banks, 35, of Pittsburgh was arrested Monday in connection with three stabbings over the weekend.

A Pittsburgh man wanted in connection with three stabbings in the city’s Lincoln-Lemington neighborhood is in custody.

City police report Melvin Banks, 35, was arrested Monday.

He’s charged with aggravated assault, providing false identification to law enforcement, homicide and attempted homicide, according to online court documents.

Charges stem from a stabbing Saturday night at a business near the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Loire Way.

There, officers found an employee with stab wounds to his face. He was transported to a hospital in critical but stable condition, officials said.

Another man was found at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Wiltsie Street with multiple stab wounds after police say the suspect, later identified as Banks, left the store and started walking up Lincoln Avenue.

The second man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said Banks was also wanted for a stabbing that occurred at about 10:15 p.m. on Sunday in the 1500 block of Lincoln Avenue.

The victim in that incident was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Anyone with information regarding the stabbings can call violent crime unit detectives at 412-323-7161.
