A suspicious box at the Goodwill on Banksville Road prompted a large police response to the store at about 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, Pittsburgh police said.
The building was evacuated by the staff of the Goodwill and police closed Banksville Road between Potomac and Wenzell avenues as authorities including the bomb squad, fire department and K-9 unit responded. The box was found in the back of the building.
Nothing suspicious was found inside and the road reopened at 12:45 p.m., police said.
This is the second incident prompting a bomb squad response this week. On Monday, staffers at St. Paul Cathedral in Oakland reported an unattended suitcase was found after a morning Mass near the sacristy of the cathedral.
The suitcase also was found to be harmless, police said.
