Police seek man suspected in assault, damage to police SUV in Pittsburgh protest

Police are attempting to identify this man, a suspect in an assault and for damaging a police vehicle during a protest May 30 in Pittsburgh.

Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man suspected of an assault during a protest May 30 at Washington Place near Fifth Avenue in Pittsburgh.

The man is also suspected of vandalizing a police car in the same location.

Police released a series of photos of the man. He was wearing a black hat, black shirt, gray pants and black boots.

In one image, in which he was wearing a white face mask, police focused on a tattoo on his left arm.

In another image, he is seen on the roof at the back of a Pittsburgh police SUV.

Police seek the public’s help in identifying the male in these photos.

He is a suspect in an assault and for vandalizing a police vehicle during the May 30 protests downtown.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Damage Assessment and Accountability Task Force at 412-323-7800 or by email at daat@pittsburghpa.gov. Callers can remain anonymous.

The task force is made up of local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. It is continuing to analyze video, photos and information to identify people who committed criminal acts during the mostly peaceful demonstrations in the city.

On Friday, police filed riot and other charges against Shaheed Hatch, 26, of Whitehall. Police said he was among those who helped start a fire that destroyed an unmarked police vehicle during the May 30 protests.

On Wednesday, police released images of another man suspected of damaging the window of a police tactical support vehicle at Washington Place and Fifth Avenue on May 30.
