People who have bought time-based passes to use the Port Authority of Allegheny County’s bus and light rail system can be reimbursed for the unused value on their card.

They won’t receive cash, but the Port Authority will use a pro-rated schedule to transfer the unused value of the card to another bus pass, according to authority spokesman Adam Brandolph.

If a customer had a monthly card that was purchased for $97.50 on March 1 and they last used the card March 15 they would receive a $47.18 credit that could go toward a future time-based pass, Brandolph said.

Customers enrolled in the JobPerks program are not eligible for reimbursement. The program offers incentives to employers who provide their workers with bus fare at a pre-tax rate.

People enrolled in the JobPerks program should contact their employer’s plan administrator.

Anyone with other questions can call the Port Authority’s customer service line at 412-442-2000 or use its website.
