A Pittsburgh man is in Allegheny County Jail after he escaped Monday from a constable who was taking him to jail on parole violations, according to the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office.
Robert Logsdon, 22, was taken into custody early Tuesday morning at his girlfriend’s home in Pittsburgh’s Carrick neighborhood, according to the sheriff’s office.
Logsdon had been arrested Monday evening in Bellevue on three bench warrants stemming from parole violations.
A constable was transporting Logsdon to Allegheny County Jail when he broke out the window of the constable’s car and jumped out at the intersection of Forbes Avenue and Stanwix Street in Downtown, despite being handcuffed, according to the sheriff’s office.
The constable lost sight of Logsdon and a six-hour manhunt ensued.
Deputies were watching Logsdon’s girlfriend’s home on Linnview Avenue in Carrick and saw him peering out of a kitchen window there, according to the sheriff’s office.
At about 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, deputies knocked at the front door and spoke with Logsdon’s girlfriend, who denied he was there. Deputies found him hiding in a bedroom closet and took him into custody after using a Taser to subdue him, according to the sheriff’s office.
His girlfriend, Shania Steinmetz, 23, was charged with hindering apprehension and disorderly conduct and released on bail.
