The teen charged in connection with the drive-by shooting that happened before Antwon Rose II was shot and killed was sentenced Monday.
Zaijuan Hester, 18, of Swissvale, was sentenced by Judge Anthony Mariani to 6 to 22 years in prison.
Hester pleaded guilty to three counts of aggravated assault and four firearms charges on March 15. In exchange for the plea, prosecutors dropped a charge of attempted homicide.
The shooting happened about 8:30 p.m. June 19, 2018, at the intersection of Baldridge and Jones avenues in North Braddock. Two men were hurt in the gunfire, according to police.
Minutes after the shooting, East Pittsburgh police Officer Michael Rosfeld stopped a gold Chevy Cruze matching the description from the North Braddock shooting. Rose and Hester were passengers. The two fled. Rosfeld shot at Rose, killing the 17-year-old.
On March 22, Rosfeld was found not guilty of homicide charges filed in Rose’s death.
Hester’s attorney, Anne Marie Mancuso, didn’t immediately return a message seeking comment.
