Teen hospitalized after shooting in Penn Hills

A teenage boy who was walking from Pittsburgh was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after being shot Friday in Penn Hills, police said.

The boy was shot once in the buttocks with a small-caliber weapon at about 5:30 p.m. while he was walking in the 200 block of Eastgate Drive, according to Penn Hills Police Chief Howard Burton.

“He had no idea why he was shot,” Burton said.

A car passed by at the time, but police were trying to determine from where the shot was fired.

The boy was treated at the scene by medics before being taken to the hospital, Burton said.
