A Wilkinsburg man who told police he doesn’t know why he strangled his wife to death in 2016 was sentenced by an Allegheny County judge Tuesday to 10 to 20 years in prison.
Judge Thomas E. Flaherty also ordered Richard Katilius to receive mental health treatment while behind bars.
Katilius, 64, pleaded guilty in May to third-degree murder.
He told police that on March 23, 2016, he had been drinking red wine before he strangled his wife in an upstairs guest bedroom.
“He stated he just did it, and he does not remember why,” police wrote in the criminal complaint charging Katilius with the crime.
Police found Linda Katilius, 63, on the floor in the doorway of a guest bedroom at their Old Gate Road home in Wilkinsburg.
