A 46-year-old Pittsburgh woman is accused of trying to slash two people with a box cutter Sunday afternoon in the city’s Uptown neighborhood, threatening to kill them, according to a criminal complaint filed by Pittsburgh police.
Police responded to the call at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the 1800 block of Fifth Avenue. When they arrived, they spoke with a woman standing at the bus stop at Fifth Avenue and Dinwiddie Street. She told police a woman across the street tried to cut her with what she called a razor knife, according to the criminal complaint.
The woman at the bus stop identified Adrienne Williams as the person who made the threat. Another man told police he was the person who called 911.
The man told police he was leaving his apartment when he was approached by Williams, who said something unintelligible, according to the complaint.
“I’m going to kill you … ! I want your phone. Give me your phone!” she then said to the man at least eight to 10 times, he told police. Williams, who is black, directed a racial slur at the man, who is white, according to the complaint.
Williams was about 2 feet away from the man when she took a swipe at him with the box cutter, he told police.
The man went to Miltenberger Street and called 911, he told police.
Williams then walked across Fifth Avenue and threatened to kill the woman while swinging the box cutter, police said in the complaint.
Williams is facing charges of robbery, criminal attempt, terroristic threats, ethnic intimidation and simple assault. She was denied bail, according to online court records, and there was no attorney listed to represent her.
