A vehicle and an electric bike collided overnight at Fort Duquesne Boulevard and Ninth Street in Pittsburgh — leaving the cyclist in critical condition.

Pittsburgh police, fire and EMS responded to the scene around 2 a.m.

The vehicle involved was traveling through a green light on Ninth Street when the collision occurred, police said. It was traveling from the North Side on the Rachel Carson Bridge.

The electric bike was heading eastbound on Fort Duquesne Boulevard and failed to stop at the red light, police said. The cyclist, a man who was not wearing a helmet, then collided with the side of the vehicle.

Pittsburgh EMS transported the cyclist — in critical condition — to an area hospital.

The man driving the vehicle and three passengers had no reported injuries. The driver stayed at the scene and was cooperative with officers, according to police.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
