Pittsburgh police: Boy in stable condition after shooting in Homewood South

A boy is in stable condition after Pittsburgh police said he was shot in the leg following a shooting in Homewood South Thursday afternoon.

Officers responded to a Shotspotter alert for the 500 block of North Dunfermline Street around 4:55 p.m. According to Pittsburgh Public Safety Spokesman Maurice Matthews, the juvenile male was found nearby in the 7300 block of Hamilton Avenue. The boy was conscious and alert.

Police rendered aid to the boy until EMS arrived and transported him to the hospital.

There were no other victims or suspect descriptions.

Police are investigating.
