Pittsburgh police are investigating an armed robbery at a business in the city’s Allentown neighborhood in which the armed suspect was confronted by a customer.

Public Safety spokeswoman Cara Cruz said officers were dispatched shortly after 2:30 p.m. Friday to Beer Bros. along the 800 block of East Warrington Avenue.

Witnesses told police a young man came into the store, brandished a gun and demanded money, Cruz said.

The suspect reportedly tussled briefly with a witness who was in line.

No injuries were reported.

Cruz said the robber fled on foot behind a neighboring business toward Beltzoover with an undisclosed amount of cash.

A description of the suspect was not released.

Anyone with information about the incident should contact Pittsburgh police at 412-323-7800.
