Two men are facing charges after a Pittsburgh police officer suffered a facial injury after responding to a fight on East Carson Street early Sunday morning.

Officers responded to the reported fight in the 1500 block of East Carson in the South Side Flats around 2:15 a.m.

Arriving officers saw a large crowd of people acting disorderly inside and outside of a restaurant, according to Pittsburgh Public Safety. The restaurant was not named.

After being told several times to disperse, Amarece Davis, 33, refused to leave the area and remained disruptive, public safety said.

He resisted arrest and it was during the arrest that an officer suffered a minor abrasion to the cheek. Medics checked the officer at the scene, and the officer did not have to be taken to a hospital, public safety said.

Davis, 33, of Homestead was taken to the Allegheny County Jail. He is charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. Andre Davis, 28, was also charged with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.

In September 2024, a similar but more serious incident took place in the same block. Pittsburgh police Sgt. Andrew Robinson suffered a broken leg when trying to break up a fight outside of Oddball’s at 1505 East Carson St. The bar has since been closed.
