A 40-year-old woman was hit by a vehicle in Pittsburgh’s Shadyside neighborhood Friday morning and was taken to an area hospital in serious condition.

Pittsburgh police and EMS were called to the intersection of Morewood Avenue and Fifth Avenue just after 10 a.m. Friday morning.

The woman who was hit had been crossing the street in a designated crosswalk and had the right of way when a vehicle tried to make a left turn on a green light, according to a news released from Pittsburgh Public Safety.

Police did not identify the victim other than by her age.

The man driving stayed on the scene and cooperated with police. He also wasn’t identified.

He was cited for not having insurance or registration; his vehicle was towed.
