Pittsburgh police sergeant injured in melee on the South Side

A Pittsburgh police officer was injured early Saturday morning while trying to break up a fight in the 1500 block of East Carson Street.
The sergeant, who suffered an apparent broken ankle, was transported to a local hospital, a police spokeswoman said.
The incident occurred around 1 a.m. as the sergeant and other officers on the scene attempted to make an arrest.
No one else was injured.
