Pittsburgh police have arrested two people and took two guns off the streets.

Public Safety spokeswoman Cara Cruz said officers during a traffic stop Thursday determined the driver illegally had a gun. The vehicle was pulled over at the intersection of Arlington Avenue and Lillian Street.

Dalaun Samuels, 25, of Pittsburgh is charged with carrying a firearm without a license and two counts each of failure to perform duties at stop signs and turning movements and required signals.

He was arrested without incident.

Cruz said detectives that same day driving along the 1100 block of Brownsville Road in Carrick encounter a 17-year-old boy walking the street with what they believe be a gun in a cross-body bag.

The boy was taken into custody following a brief foot pursuit.

Officers recovered a 9mm pistol, a small amount of marijuana and nearly $500 in cash from his bag.

The boy was placed on electronic monitoring and released to the custody of a guardian.

No injuries were reported in either incident.
