Within the last 10 days, America has seen two mass shootings: Eight people died in Atlanta and 10 were killed in Boulder, Colo. It’s led President Biden to call for bringing back an assault weapons ban and increasing background checks.

Closer to home, Pittsburgh community groups are calling for gun control legislation. Citizens are particularly concerned about Asian Americans being targeted, the same way Jewish worshippers were when 11 people were shot to death at the Tree of Life synagogue on Oct. 27, 2018.

The Tribune-Review spoke with Pittsburgh Public Safety Director Wendell Hissrich about the concerns recent mass shootings have raised for him.
