Pittsburgh Public Schools said Thursday that all students, staff and visitors to some of its buildings will be required to wear masks for the next seven to 10 days because of a covid outbreak.

Pittsburgh Creative and Performing Arts Magnet School in Downtown and the Colfax School in Squirrel Hill will reopen Friday after being closed two days, but all events and activities are canceled.

All staff, students and visitors will be required to wear a well-fitting mask. The masking requirement for CAPA extends until Friday, May 20 and until Monday, May 23 at Colfax.

The buildings underwent disinfection procedures, the district said.

Admin building closed today

The administration building in Oakland will be closed Friday for covid mitigation measures because the number of cases reached the 5% threshhold Thursday.

Students, staff and visitors will have to wear masks in that facility beginning Monday, the school district announced late Thursday night.

The mask-wearing requirement will continue for students, staff and visitors until May 23, unless the Allegheny County’s community level reaches “medium.”
