Happenings for week on May 9, 2022: Touch A Truck, line dancing
Touch A Truck at Plum High School
The Plum Chamber of Commerce is holding a Touch A Truck event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 14 at Plum Senior High School.
More than 20 vehicles will be on site, along with attractions including food and snack trucks, and children’s activities such as face painting, an inflatable obstacle course, a trackless train and the creativity of a balloon artist.
The Pirate Parrot mascot is scheduled to visit from 1 to 2 p.m., and if the weather cooperates, a medical helicopter will land during the event.
Admission is $5 per person, and plenty of parking is available at the high school. Everyone is invited.

Line dancing classes at Plum Community Center
Whether you want to brush up on your line-dancing skills or you just want to give it a try, classes are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursdays at Plum Community Center, 499 Center New Texas Road.
Beyond country, the genre of music most often associated with line dancing, other styles are featured.

Food truck rally at Unity Community Church
A food truck rally for the benefit of Unity Community Church’s Summer Blast counselors is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 14 at the church, 215 Unity Trestle Road.
The rally is to help raise money to pay counselors a better wage while keeping the cost low for campers. Some of the proceeds will go toward the church’s student ministry.
Along with three food trucks, free car washes are available, along with family-oriented activities.
Plum AARP encourages membership
The Plum chapter of the AARP meets at noon the second Tuesday of each month from September through June at Unity Community Church, 215 Unity Trestle Road.
Entertainment for the June 14 meeting will be the popular G Boys, who will perform classic oldies.
Plum AARP is a social and service group open to residents of Plum, Penn Hills, New Kensington, Monroeville and surrounding communities. Dues are $10 per year.
The chapter offers free cake or pie and coffee or tea, an informative or entertaining program each month, and an opportunity to attend a Christmas party, spring luncheon, and August social. Day and overnight trips also are offered.

Event benefits Oakmont Carnegie Library
Taste of Two Towns is scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. May 15 at Oakmont Carnegie Library, 700 Allegheny River Blvd.
The event features food and beverages from top area restaurants, all included in a donation of $65 per person, $45 of which is tax-deductible.

The event is for adults, and all proceeds benefit the Oakmont Carnegie Library.
