Holiday Park firefighters plan golf fundraiser

Holiday Park Volunteer Fire Department will host a golf tournament July 25 at Meadowink Golf Course, 4076 Bulltown Road in Murrysville.

Registration opens at 7 a.m. Putting green and driving range opens at 8; shotgun start is at 9.

Other activities include a Chinese auction, competition on designated holes, prizes, box lunch on the course, steak dinner and more.

Cost is $125 per person or $450 per foursome if signed as a group.

Event is limited to 144 competitors. Sponsorship packages are available. They range from $250 to $2,500.

Student news

• Sean Smith, Diana O’Shaughnessy and Destiny Loughner were named to the Winter 2021 president’s list at Southern New Hampshire University. Full-time students who have earned a minimum GPA of 3.700 and above are named to the president’s list.

• Andrew Murphy, majoring in computer engineering, was named to Spring 2021 dean’s list at Cedarville (Ohio) University. This recognition requires the student to obtain a 3.5 GPA or higher for the semester and carry a minimum of 12 credit hours.

• Bethany Kosor, majoring in Biblical studies-accelerated, was named to the Spring 2021 dean’s honor list at Cedarville (Ohio) University. This recognition requires the student to obtain a 3.75 GPA or higher for the semester and carry a minimum of 12 credit hours.

• Christopher Bell (Master of Divinity) and Faith Bell (Bachelor of Arts, Middle Child Education) graduated from Cedarville (Ohio University).

Movie in the Park

Plum’s Movie in the Park returns to Larry Mills Park this summer. Movies are being planned for June 12, July 10 and Aug. 14. Times may vary.

The first movie this season at the park off Fontana Drive will be “Tom and Jerry” staring Chloe Grace Moretz, Pallavi Sharda, Colin Jost and Ken Jeong. Gates open at 8 p.m. with the show starting at 9.

Plum Rotary will provide free popcorn. There also will be activities before the screening.

Plum’s Monday Market

The Monday Market is back.

Visit every Monday through Oct. 25 from 3 to 7 p.m. There is no market on Memorial Day, July 5 and Labor Day.

The Market is located at Plum Creek Park (Plum Baseball Fields), 1040 Ross Hollow Road.

Flag Day service

Oakmont Elks will host a Flag Day service at noon June 13 at 106 Washington Ave.

It is free and open to the public. Children can join in the service.

Plum Community Library

The Plum Community Library at 445 Center-New Texas Road is open.

Patrons can browse the library’s collections, check out materials and use the computers. Contactless curbside pickup will continue to be offered.

Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Summer reading programs are expected to begin in June.

Plum boys soccer team golf outing

The Plum boys soccer team will host its first annual golf outing June 13 at the Meadowink Golf Course in Murrysville.

The shotgun start will begin at 1 p.m. (arrive at noon). The cost is $100 per golfer, which includes golf, lunch and dinner.

Reserve your team of four. The outing is limited to 22 teams.

Payment must be received by June 1. Checks can be made payable to Plum High School boys soccer. Mail to Lisa Weleski, 4048 Impala Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15329.
