Plum’s Market Monday
The Monday Market is back.
Visit every Monday through Oct. 25 from 3 to 7 p.m. There is no market on Memorial Day, July 5 and Labor Day.
The Market is located at Plum Creek Park (Plum Baseball Fields), 1040 Ross Hollow Rd.
Movie in the Park
Plum’s Movie in the Park series returns to Larry Mills Park this summer. Movies are being planned for June 12, July 10 and Aug. 14. Times may vary.
The first movie this season at the park off Fontana Drive will be “Tom and Jerry” staring Chloe Grace Moretz, Pallavi Sharda, Colin Jost and Ken Jeong. Gates open at 8 p.m. with the show starting at 9 p.m.
Plum Rotary will provide free popcorn. There also will be activities before the screening.

Plum Community Library opens
The Plum Community Library at 445 Center-New Texas Road is open.
Patrons can browse the library’s collections, check out materials and use the computers.
Contactless curbside pickup will continue to be offered.
Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday.
Summer reading programs are expected to begin in June.

Arts & Libations Crawl
The Oakmont Chamber of Commerce’s 2nd Annual Arts & Libations Crawl is slated for May 22 from 2 to 8 p.m. in Oakmont’s Business District.
Participating businesses include Embroidery From The Heart, Oakmont Skin Care, Oakmont Bakery, Oakmont Olive Oil, Castle Toys and more. Artists will also be featured in many local businesses. Award-winning cartoonist Joe Wos designed the squirrel logo for this event.
Oakmont’s business community will benefit by showcasing Oakmont businesses and artists and giving attendees an opportunity to enjoy an outdoor event with shopping and alcohol tastings. Local restaurants will also welcome patrons for lunch and/or dinner.
Funds raised from this event will benefit the Oakmont Chamber of Commerce, which has continued to hold events and activities for the benefit of the whole community. Tickets are $10 and the first 500 ticket holders will receive a swag bag at the registration table.
Registration is at the train station in the middle of town, where ticket holders will receive a wrist band to sample the various alcohol vendors.

Student news
Marietta College’s Vincent Tassari of Verona was recently elected to be Junior Representative for the 2021-22 Student Government Association on campus.
Tassari, a graduate of Central Catholic High School, is majoring in Environmental Engineering and is scheduled to graduate in May 2023. Elections were held in April.
Pirohi order reservations
The Church of the Resurrection in Monroeville is making pirohi May 19. You may call 412-372-9415 now until May 16 to reserve your order. It is $9/dozen, potato or sauerkraut. Pickup will be May 19 from 2 to 5 pm.
Plum boys soccer team golf outing
The Plum boys soccer team will host its first annual golf outing June 13 at the Meadowink Golf Course in Murrysville.
The shotgun start will begin at 1 p.m. (arrive at noon). The cost is $100 per golfer, which includes golf, lunch and dinner.
Reserve your team of four. The outing is limited to 22 teams.

Twin-Boros Memorial Day
The Twin-Boros Memorial Day parade and ceremony will take place May 31. The parade kicks off at 9:30 a.m. on East Railroad Avenue and will proceed to the cemetery in Oakmont.
This year’s parade marshal is Frank Bonaroti with State Representative Carrie Del Rosso serving as grand marshal. The ceremony begins at 11 a.m. at the cemetery. The guest speaker is Donald Koenig, lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate Corps and the executive director of the Veterans Administration Pittsburgh Healthcare.
The program will include the traditional decorating of the chairs, a 21-gun salute by the Veterans of American Legion Post 600, calling of the honor roll and patriotic music selections.
All participants and spectators must follow CDC and state covid guidelines. Anyone who would like to donate to help offset the costs of the ceremony can send a check payable to Oakmont-Verona Memorial Day Committee, 504 Maryland Ave., Oakmont, PA 15139.
