Plum hydrant flushing

The Plum Borough Municipal Authority will be flushing fire hydrants from Sept. 18 to Oct. 27.

Flushing is required to check the operation of all fire hydrants and to clean the distribution lines, according to the authority. No work will be done on weekends.

Because flushing may cause discolored water, residents are advised to test their water before doing laundry or drawing large amounts during the flushing.

Any discoloration should clear in one to two hours. If it does not, call the authority at 412-793-7331 for help.

R&B musician at AARP

Plum AARP will hold the first meeting of the new season beginning at noon Sept. 12 at Unity Community Church, 215 Unity Trestle Road.

The program will be musician Twan Moore performing rhythm and blues. Cake, coffee and tea will be served following the business meeting. If not already paid, 2023-24 dues of $15 are due.

Plum AARP is a social/service club open to residents of Plum, Penn Hills, Monroeville and surrounding areas. Meetings are held at noon on the second Tuesday of each month, except July, at Unity Community Church.
