Plum Creek church rummage sale

The Presbyterian Church of Plum Creek is hosting its 59th annual rummage sale on Aug. 20 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Aug. 21 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Tents will be set up outdoors to accommodate selling of items such as gardening necessities, plant specimens, toys for all ages, holiday lights and arrangements, and baby clothing.

The big pavilion will have furniture, sports equipment, rugs, lamps, suitcases and other wonderful pieces to buy. A few rooms within the church will be open for specialty items such as men’s and women’s clothing, small appliances, pictures and frames, jewelry and housewares.

The community is welcome to participate.

Plum Community Save Lives – Feed Families Blood Drive

The Plum Community Save Lives — Feed Families Blood Drive will be July 30 from noon to 6 p.m. at Plum Community Center, 499 Center New Texas Road.

Choose “Donor Login” if you donated with Vitalant or Central Blood Bank previously or choose “New Donor” if you have not donated with Vitalant or Central Blood Bank previously.

Vitalant will make a financial contribution to Zion Lutheran Church Food Pantry on behalf of every donor.

Oakmont library programs

Oakmont Carnegie Library offers a variety of free online programs. Director Beth Mellor hosts Tuesday Morning YouTube Storytime on Tuesdays from 10 to 11 a.m.

Virtual Meditation with a Monk is scheduled for 6 to 7 p.m. on Aug. 3. Join the monks from the Pittsburgh Buddhist Center as they stream their meditation program live.

U.S. Amateur volunteers needed

Online volunteer registration is open for the 2021 U.S. Amateur Championship at Oakmont Country Club.

The competition is Aug. 9-15.

About 400 volunteers are needed to fill positions on more than 15 committees, including marshals, transportation, admissions and disabled services.

Early application allows volunteers to specify their committee preference. Those interested in volunteering should visit oakmont-countryclub.org.

All volunteers are required to purchase the volunteer package for $100, which includes two golf shirts, a ball cap or visor, one volunteer credential valid for the championship and complimentary food, snacks and beverages on the days they volunteer.

Each volunteer will work 16 to 20 hours, or four to five shifts throughout the championship.

Plum library program

Tales with Teachers is scheduled for 11 to 11:30 a.m. July 30 and Aug. 6. The program is free and designed for children in kindergarten through fourth grade. Space is limited. Registration is available. Call 412-798-READ for more information.

Plum’s Monday Market

The Monday Market is every Monday through Oct. 25 from 3 to 7 p.m. There is no market on Labor Day.

The Market is located at Plum Creek Park (Plum Baseball Fields), 1040 Ross Hollow Road.
