• Steven Leone earned the distinction of Faculty Honors for spring 2021 at the Georgia Institute of Technology. This designation is awarded to undergraduate students who have earned a 4.0 academic average for the semester.
• Courtney Anthony earned a spot on the dean’s list at Shenandoah University for the spring 2021 semester. To be considered for the dean’s list, students must complete at least 12 semester hours and earn a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher.
• Brody Simmons, Logan Simmons Jordan Spisak, Nicole Cotcher, Regina Obiekezie, Sara Pearlman, Tamiya Thomas, Tammi Quarles, Thomas Matusky, Tyra Patterson and Joanna Falso were named to the dean’s list at California University of Pennsylvania for the spring 2021 semester. Dean’s list students are undergraduates attending full time who have earned a GPA of 3.25 or higher for the semester.
• Shannon Ryan was named to Susquehanna University’s dean’s list for the spring 2021 semester. The dean’s list recognizes students who achieve a GPA of 3.4 or higher out of a possible 4.0 for the semester. To qualify, students must complete a minimum of 12 semester hours.
• Joshua Centorcelli graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering degree with high honors from Lehigh University.
• Michael McNabb (master’s degree, business administration), Megan Oravetz (master’s degree, occupational therapy) and Kane Piroch (Bachelor of Science, criminal justice) graduated from Saint Francis on May 8-9.
US Open amateur volunteers needed
Online volunteer registration is open for the 2021 U.S. Amateur Championship at Oakmont Country Club.
The competition is Aug. 9-15.
About 400 volunteers are needed to fill positions on more than 15 committees, including marshals, transportation, admissions and disabled services.
Early application allows volunteers to specify their committee preference.
Those interested in volunteering should visit oakmont-countryclub.org.
All volunteers are required to purchase the volunteer package for $100, which includes two golf shirts, a ball cap or visor, one volunteer credential valid for the championship and complimentary food, snacks and beverages on the days they volunteer.
Each volunteer will work 16 to 20 hours, or four to five shifts throughout the championship.
Oakmont previously has hosted 16 USGA championships, which is tied for second overall.

Oakmont survey launched
An Oakmont survey to help craft a comprehensive plan was recently launched on the borough’s website, oakmontborough.com.
Questions include: What do you value most about Oakmont? … If you were thinking about living or starting a business in Oakmont today, what is it about the community that makes it an easy decision?
There is no deadline to fill out the survey.
Movie in the park
Plum’s Movie in the Park returns to Larry Mills Park this summer. Movies are being planned for July 10 and Aug. 14. Times may vary.
Plum Rotary will provide free popcorn. There also will be activities before the screening.

Plum’s Monday Market
The Monday Market is every Monday through Oct. 25 from 3 to 7 p.m. There is no market on July 5 and Labor Day.
The Market is located at Plum Creek Park (Plum Baseball Fields), 1040 Ross Hollow Road.
Holiday Park firefighters golf outing
Holiday Park Volunteer Fire Department will host a golf tournament July 25 at Meadowink Golf Course, 4076 Bulltown Road in Murrysville.
Registration opens at 7 a.m. Putting green and driving range opens at 8. Shotgun start is at 9.
Other activities include a Chinese auction, competition on designated holes, prizes, box lunch on the course, steak dinner and more.
Cost is $125 per person or $450 per foursome if signed as a group.
Event is limited to 144 competitors. Sponsorship packages are available. They range from $250 to $2,500.
