News briefs: Oakmont looks to fill vacancies on commissions, boards

Oakmont has vacancies on several boards, including its shade tree commission, boulevard project and planning commission.
Letters of interest can be sent to the borough building, 767 Fifth St.
Those who applied to the aforementioned boards three or more years ago are asked to submit again.

Networking available
Women’s Business Network is an association that supports the success and growth of women in business.
Its chapters provide a variety of networking opportunities for women to succeed.
The Monroeville chapter hosts meetings the second and fourth Wednesday of the month from 8:15 to 9:30 a.m. The next meeting is Nov. 25. Meetings are virtual and free to attend.

The Murrysville chapter hosts regular meetings the second and fourth Thursday of the month from 8:30 to 9:4 a.m. at Dick’s Diner, 4200 William Penn Hwy.
This is a hybrid meeting with the option to attend online. There is only one meeting this month, Nov. 12, due to the holiday.

Plum grad earns scholarship
Tanner Conklin, a Plum High School graduate, earned the Boynton D. Murch Scholarship to Baldwin Wallace University.
He was among 680 students who earned scholarships at the school this fall.
More than 400 scholarships provide over $3.5 million to help students attend, persist and graduate from BWU.
