The National Funeral Directors Association has granted the nationally recognized certified preplanning consultant designation to Plum resident Anna Zvirman-Nesbit of Soxman Funeral Homes Ltd. in Penn Hills.

The certification program is considered to be the standard of excellence in service for people who help families plan funerals, memorial services and other life-tribute events in advance.

To become a certified preplanning consultant, candidates must meet specific program requirements and pass an examination based on a standards manual. Consultants fulfill further requirements to renew their certifications every four years.

A 2003 graduate of Plum High School, Zvirman-Nesbit earned her bachelor of science in business administration from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania in 2006. She graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 2007.

At Soxman, Zvirman-Nesbit coordinates the advanced funeral planning program. In 2017, she became a shareholder of the funeral home along with her business partner, Brian Soxman.

She is a member of the National, Pennsylvania and Allegheny County funeral director associations, and the International Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Association. Also, she serves as chairman of the board for the Plum Chamber of Commerce.

As a certified funeral celebrant, she serves families without a church affiliation or those looking to create a personalized service.

“It is truly an honor to have earned and be recognized with the CPC designation,” she said. “It is because of my passion for this industry and devotion to service that I will continue to strive for excellence in all I do. I’m thankful for NFDA’s guidance and support in my career.”
