The Riverview School District is finishing up projects as it prepares for the first day of school on Aug. 27.
“As the district strives to use preventative maintenance, protect our investment, gain efficiency and meet safety needs, we’ve been working hard this summer to complete necessary and important capital improvement projects,” said Margaret DiNinno, the district’s superintendent.
Projects worked on during the summer months included adding ballistic films to windows throughout the district, replacing an elevator at the senior and junior high school building, constructing a wrap-around driveway at the senior and junior high school building and repairing concrete walkways.
There were several upgrades done at the 10th Street and Verner elementary school buildings, including installing new carpet, updating the fire and public announcement systems, painting classrooms and replacing network wiring, among other upgrades.
Central administration has returned to its original office on 10th Street in Oakmont after setting up a temporary office location as repairs were made.
Business Manager Tammy Good said the district was issued a $7 million bond three years ago to address some maintenance projects.
