Wellness manager, police officer join Plum schools
Plum Borough School Board announces the appointment of Ryan Kesterholt as new manager of wellness and sports performance.
Kesterholt comes to the district with more than 17 years of WPIAL athletic training experience and is a licensed athletic trainer. He graduated from Duquesne University with a bachelor of science degree with an emphasis in athletic training.
He is certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association as an athletic trainer and the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a performance enhancement specialist and corrective exercise specialist, and is a ConcussionWise-certified educational teacher, American Sport Education Program successful coaching and sports first aid-certified teacher and a CrossFit Level 1 coach.
Kesterholt has been working with Plum Senior High School athletes since August of 2005 as a contracted trainer. For more than eight years, he served as the fitness manager and personal trainer at Club 4 Life, he and created the CrossFit strength and conditioning program at Rising Six Strength and Conditioning, where he also coached.
“Plum is excited to create this position and be a leader in developing students on and off the playing surface,” athletic director Brian Miller said. “We are also equally excited for Mr. Kesterholt’s short- and long-term vision for our program. He is going to be an asset for all students in our district. The team cannot thank the board enough for their willingness to see the value in the position and how it will positively impact our students and student-athletes.”
Kesterholt said he is excited to continue to work with Plum students.
“I have had a great experience being their athletic trainer and look forward to being a leader in my new role,” he said. “I can’t wait to get to work with these fantastic students to help them reach their potential and fulfill their dreams.”
The school board also announces the appointment of Officer David Klobucher to the district police department, joining the team at Holiday Park Intermediate School.
Klobucher has been a police officer for 28 years, the past 24 of which with the Penn Hills Police Department, for which he served on the special response team since 1999 and was promoted to K-9 handler in 2003. He retired with his current K-9 partner in July.
He often worked in Penn Hills School District buildings as a voluntary assignment from his department.
“It was some of the most enjoyable work I’ve done,” he said. “I am proud and honored to work for the Plum Borough School District Police Department and look forward to serving the students, teachers and staff.”
Klobucher lives in Murrysville with his wife of 19 years and their two daughters, ages 12 and 9.
