Point State Park’s parking lot is officially closed for repairs — until early fall, the Department of Conservation & Natural Resources announced Thursday.

Caliber Contracting Services, Inc. began the scheduled repairs to the lot at 624 Commonwealth Place, operated by Boulos Parking Inc.

The work is denoted in the park’s improvement project, DCNR said, and periodic updates will be provided through the project’s progression.

In December, the commonwealth announced a $3.4 million state investment to help upgrade amenities, walkways and lighting at Point State Park ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft in Pittsburgh.

“These important upgrades to Point State Park’s infrastructure are critical to ensuring it remains one of Pennsylvania’s most visited places and a staple of Pittsburgh’s culture,” John Hallas, director of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources State Parks, said previously in a statement.

In addition to the lot updates, the project will include walkway and utility repairs and improvements to lighting on the City Side Lawn and the flag bastion. Landscaping throughout the park will be refreshed as well.

“We encourage our partners to find alternative parking during this time,” Point State Park said in the Thursday release.

Point State Park is unable to host large events while construction is occurring and the fountain is remaining off this summer, according to officials. But the Great Allegheny Passage trail, Fort Pitt Museum, Fort Pitt Blockhouse and public restrooms remain open.
