Police investigate 2nd Shadyside area carjacking in 24 hours

For the second time in 24 hours, Pittsburgh police are investigating a reported carjacking near Shadyside.

Pittsburgh Public Safety spokeswoman Amanda Mueller officers were called about 11:20 p.m. Thursday to the 700 block of College Street for the latest incident.

Police said a driver told them three males approached, showed a weapon and demanded the vehicle.

The men drove off in the victim’s SUV in the direction of Fifth Avenue, Mueller said.

The investigation is ongoing.

It was the second carjacking to be reported in less than 24 hours in the Shadyside area.

Police responded to a reported carjacking Thursday in the 200 block of South Highland Avenue shortly before 2:50 a.m.
