Police investigate sexual assault near Pitt's campus
Pittsburgh police and the University of Pittsburgh police are searching for information related to a sexual assault that occurred early Sunday morning.
A female was sexually assaulted at approximately 2:10 a.m. on the 200 block of Melwood Avenue, and the perpetrator displayed a knife, struck her in the face and took her cellphone.
The male suspect is approximately 30-40 years old, about 5-foot-7 inches tall and has a thin build, according to Pitt police.
He was last seen wearing a long sleeve black shirt, cargo pants and a ski mask, police said.
Pitt police were made aware of the incident at approximately 3:24 a.m. by Pittsburgh police.
