A Glassport man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting last weekend in the borough.

Allegheny County Police said they were dispatched to the 800 block of Monongahela Ave. about 7:15 p.m. Jan. 31.

A man had been shot once in the neck while trying to access the Hemlock Alley entrance to an apartment, according to a criminal complaint in the case.

First responders rushed the victim, who authorities did not name, to an area hospital in critical condition, the complaint said. He later died.

Robert Wright, 26, was taken into custody Tuesday night and charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault and a firearms count, Allegheny County Police said and court records show.

A witness said she saw Wright shoot the unidentified man, the complaint said. The witness said they and the victim previously saw Wright and his children at a Family Dollar store.

A judge denied Wright bail on Wednesday, court records show. He remains in the Allegheny County Jail.

Wright’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 11.
