A man was critically wounded after being shot in the leg during an argument about a crash Tuesday night in Pittsburgh’s South Side, police said.

Public Safety spokesperson Cara Cruz said officers responded to calls of a man found shot near the intersection of East Carson and South 18th streets shortly before 9 p.m.

Officers located the man who was found shot in the leg.

Cruz said the man told police he had been in a collision along the 100 block of Pius Street and was exchanging information with the driver when the man shot him, stole his cell phone and fled the scene.

The man who was shot then got into his own vehicle and tried to drive away, only to hit a vehicle at South 18th and Sarah streets before coming to a stop along East Carson Street, Cruz reported.

He was transported to a hospital in critical condition.

Anyone with information about the crash or shooting can contact city police at 412-323-7800.
