A man charged with stabbing two people during a Wednesday night drinking session in a Hill District home previously served prison time for a fatal stabbing more than a decade earlier.

Police said Tyrone Taylor, 52, killed Laferrel “Flash” Dee inside an apartment at 230 Davenport St.

Officers found Taylor kneeling on the side of the bed with a bloody knife in each hand, according to a criminal complaint.

He was treated for injuries at UPMC Mercy hospital and then arraigned on homicide and other charges.

An unnamed witness told police that Taylor and Dee were drinking with two other people in a bedroom.

Taylor, who the witness said was drinking wine and smoking crack cocaine, dozed off, according to a criminal complaint.

He woke up angry and accused the others of talking about him while he was asleep, the complaint said.

Taylor got two kitchen knives and stabbed Dee several times, even as he was lying on the floor, police said, citing the witness’s account.

The witness ran out of the bedroom for help.

Pittsburgh police arrived shortly after 11 p.m. In the rear bedroom, officers found three unconscious people, including Dee, with stab wounds.

Dee was pronounced dead at 11:18 p.m., police said.

Police said a second victim, who was not identified, was stabbed multiple times in the shoulder and arm. That person went to UPMC Presbyterian hospital.

Taylor did not have a hometown or attorney listed in court records.

More than 14 years ago, police arrested Taylor in the fatal stabbing of Marcel King during a brief argument.

Shortly after 3:30 a.m. on Jan. 15, 2010, Taylor was standing in the Hill District’s Elmore Square, according to the complaint in that case.

A witness told police they heard yelling, then saw Taylor pull from his waistband one of two knives he carried for protection and lunge at King, 40.

Taylor stabbed King once in the chest, then picked up his can of beer and walked away, the complaint said. King died at the scene.

An Allegheny County jury found Taylor guilty of one count of voluntary manslaughter. He was sentenced to prison for 7 1/2 to 15 years.

Taylor returned to prison at least twice — in 2020 and 2022 — for parole violations, according to the state Department of Corrections.
