Hampton Community Library has plenty of programming to welcome fall, including:

• “What a Wonder-Fall World!” drop-in story time, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays through Nov. 30.

Stories, songs and crafts designed to celebrate discovery as children interact with their environment. All ages and abilities welcome. Come early and stay for all activities or for a few.

• “Checkmate,” 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 12 and Nov. 9 in Activity Room 1.

Led by instructor Benjamin Lin, 2023 state sixth-grade champion, the chess club is for children in kindergarten through 12th grade. The emphasis is on good sportsmanship and building skill level through instruction and play.

All levels of play are welcome. Registration is appreciated. Call the library at 412-684-1098.

• “Help! My Phone Ate My Email,” 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Oct. 7 and 14. Students from Hampton High School will help solve minor issues on a first-come, first-served basis. No registration necessary.

• “You’ve Got Mail!” card-making class, 6 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 12 and Nov. 9.

Stop in the library and make three cards for the fall holidays. Cost is $5 for materials. Maria Golio from Creative Memories will teach the ins and out of card making, or feel free to bring a small project on which to work.

• “Project Scrapbook,” 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 16 and Nov. 20.

New to scrapbooking or maybe got away from it and looking for a reboot? Marie Golio from Creative Memories will be at the library to share, teach and support fellow scrapbookers with their goals. No registration is necessary.

• Card Club for adults, 1 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesdays.

• “Murder by the Book!” discussion, 6:30 p.m. Oct. 18. “A Flicker in the Dark” by Stacy Willingham is the topic. Call the library to request a copy of the book.

The Mystery Book Group meets in the library. Everyone is invited.

• Betty’s Book Buzz Discussion Group, 1 p.m. Oct. 20. “All the Broken Pieces” by Jon Boyne is the topic. Call the library to request a copy of the book.

Betty’s Book Group meets in the library. Everyone with an interest in conversations and good reads is invited to join.

• “Cooks-N-Books: Pasta Time,” 6:30 to 8 p.m. Oct. 26 in Great Room A at the Hampton Community Center.

Cooks-N-Books is a cookbook and food discussion group for people who love to cook and make new friends. No real experience or culinary expertise is needed, just a desire to share recipes and food.

Pick a letter from the alphabet that stands for a fall favorite. Then check out a cookbook, cook your dish and bring it to the group the evening of the discussion, along with a copy of the recipes. Those who attend are welcome to sample one another’s dishes.

There is a $2 fee to cover the cost of supplies.

• “News and Views! First Fridays,” 1 p.m. Oct. 6, Nov. 3 and Dec. 1 in the library.

A discussion group led by local author and journalist Gerry K. Smith invites members to participate as guest leaders. Discussion topics always welcomed. New members are welcome to share or just listen.

The Library will be closed Oct. 21 for the Hampton Halloween parade, and will close at 5 p.m. Oct. 31 for Halloween.
