Allegheny Health Network and Cigna Healthcare reached a deal on a one-year contract while the two organizations work over the next two weeks on a longer, multi-year agreement.

The deal is meant to ensure that Cigna Healthcare customers will continue to have in-network access to the Pittsburgh-based health care system’s 14 hospitals and doctors, AHN said.

Details of the one-year agreement were not immediately available.

“This agreement is great news for the more than 20,000 people in this region who are Cigna-insured and rely on AHN for their health care needs,” AHN President James Benedict said in a statement. “We appreciate Cigna’s good faith efforts to reach a contract that enables its members to continue receiving the outstanding care and services they have come to expect from AHN.”

The contract goes into effect on Saturday.

Cigna said customers who have questions about their access can call a representative at the number on the back of their insurance card or call 1-800-882-4462. AHN has an information line for Cigna members at 412-359-5828.
