AHN to offer breast cancer events throughout October

Allegheny Health Network will host some free events at its hospitals and health sites throughout the region in October to recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month, according to a company news release.

Below is a chronological list of upcoming, free events:

Oct. 5: There will be walk-in mammograms offered from 8:30 a.m. to noon at AHN Outpatient Center at Waterworks Mall near Fox Chapel, Bethel Park Health and Wellness Pavilion, Canonsburg Hospital, Forbes Hospital, Jefferson Hospital, West Penn Hospital Breast Center, Saint Vincent Hospital Breast Imaging Center. The mammograms are not free and women need to bring their insurance cards. For more information, click here or call 412-578-7412.

Oct. 12: Angela Keleher, AHN Cancer Institute’s director of breast surgery, will lead a “Knock Out Cancer” workout from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at SHAPE Perform, 5877 Commerce St., Pittsburgh. She will speak after the workout about breast health and wellness.

Oct. 16: Experts will speak about breast health, genetics and prevention starting at 6 p.m. at AHN Wexford Health and Wellness Pavilion. Speakers include S. Lawrence Wickerham, Chief of Cancer Genetics and Prevention; Kyla Morphy and Jackie Hoover, clinical genetic counselors; Rachel Harken, clinical dietician; and Judith Schaad, physical therapist.
