An attempted homicide suspect is back in custody after being mistakenly released from the Washington County Jail.
Samuel Valle, 20, of Monessen, missed a court appearance last week, alerting the district attorney’s office he was no longer behind bars, TribLive news partner WTAE reported.
District Attorney Jason Walsh told WTAE law enforcement immediately started a search that led them to a home on Murtland Avenue in Washington. Valle was met with a SWAT team just before 3 p.m. Wednesday and returned to prison.
On top of his attempted homicide and aggravated assault counts, Valle now faces yet to be filed charges related to him leaving prison, according to Walsh.
A resident of the home where Valle hid, 19-year-old Myairah Brown, was charged with harboring a fugitive and held on $25,000 bail.
Law enforcement have so far been unable to explain how Valle ending up walking free.
“We’ll get to the bottom of it,” Walsh said. “Those answers will be figured out, and they’ll be corrected working with the county and courts.”
Police say Valle shot at a man following a house party at a home in Charleroi in September 2023.
